Plan the test
Choose a safe, legal and repeatable environment. Define the operating range, gear, load, fuel, temperatures and channels before collecting data. Do not attempt high-load tests on public roads where they are unsafe or prohibited. A controlled dynamometer or appropriate closed facility may be required.

Capture the right channels
Log only as many channels as the tool can sample reliably. Typical groups may include engine speed, driver request, requested and actual torque, boost, rail pressure, airflow, lambda, ignition corrections, exhaust temperatures and gearbox state, depending on the platform. Use the manufacturer’s units and retain the raw export.

Compare request with delivery
Look at the relationship between commanded and actual values across time, not isolated peaks. Repeated control error, oscillation, intervention or temperature drift deserves investigation. Correlate the log with fault memory and the exact symptom. A screenshot of one maximum value rarely explains the system’s behaviour.

Control variables
Use the stated fuel, similar ambient conditions and the same mechanical configuration for comparisons. Allow temperatures to stabilise and document adaptation or relearn procedures. If hardware changes between tests, the results are no longer a direct file comparison. Keep an untouched baseline log whenever possible.

Report feedback clearly
Provide ticket number, file revision, vehicle identification, test conditions, log file and timestamped description. Say what was expected, what happened and whether the symptom repeats. Avoid editing the supplied file independently between revisions; otherwise the technical chain of responsibility and the comparison are lost.
